World Read Aloud Day - Famous Guest Reader

Along with discussing and writing all about why reading is important to us, we had a "famous" guest reader. Scott read us the story, "The Wolf Who Cried Boy". Everyone enjoyed listening to Scott read. Thank you, Scott for taking time out of your busy day to read to us!
Here is a list of "Things We Read" that we came up with during journaling time. Good thinking 1st graders!
books, newspapers, signs, magazines, comic strips, maps, math directions, cards, labels, medicine, names, money, calendar, music, shirts, cookbook, recipes, menus, school words, phonebook, dictionary, announcements, letters, video games, posters and movie titles.
Hard to believe that over 1 billion people entered the 21st Century unable to read and write. Wow! Going to school and learning to read and write is a wonderful privilege that we Americans have!:)

First Grade Informance

Nicely done, 1st graders! You have sure learned a lot of important musical concepts. I enjoyed watching all of you! Great smiles:)

6th Grade Buddy Read

We were given clues by our 6th grade friends to try and figure out who our reading buddy was. We had a lot of fun reading the clues and guessing. We met our buddies, read with them, then got to play with them at recess! We had so much fun! Thank you 6th graders!
